A Non-Linear Mesh Deformation Operator Applied to Shape Optimization

چکیده

A simple methodology that enables exact sensitivity analysis with unstructured meshes is presented. Using automatic differentiation, derivatives of highly non-linear state equations and cost functionals can be computed up to numerical precision. But with unstructured meshes, the nodal sensitivities, which are needed to perform the differentiation with respect to shape of the computational domain, are not trivial to obtain. Therefore, we consider differentiating a mesh relocation strategy, which is based on the solution of a suitable partial differential equation. Use of the technique is demonstrated with an inverse design problem governed by incompressible fluid flow.
